The Evangelical Baptist Convention is deeply distressed by the tragic news that church leaders belonging to the Thadou Baptist Association, India were reportedly waylaid on 13th May 2026 while returning to Kangpokpi after attending a United Baptist Convention gathering in Lamka (Churachandpur).
This is a painful and heart-breaking moment for the churches of Manipur. We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. We also request all believers and prayer partners across India to uphold the Thadou Baptist Association, India and the churches in the region in prayer during this difficult time.
We grieve deeply over all forms of violence, hatred, militant activities, and communal fanaticism that continue to endanger lives and disturb peace in society. This is a time for the Church to stand firmly for truth, peace, reconciliation, and the sanctity of human life.
At this sensitive hour, we urge everyone to exercise restraint, wisdom, and compassion. As people of faith, let us place our trust not in violence or retaliation, but in God Almighty, our refuge and strength in times of trouble.
