The Healthcare Ministry of the Evangelical Baptist Convention (EBC) was envisioned with a commitment to become a leader in Christian healthcare and compassionate service. In line with this vision, the 70th Annual Convention of 2018 adopted a resolution to establish a hospital under the Church’s initiative.
To pursue this goal, the Health Care Board (HCB) was formed as a Sub-Committee, which in 2020 prepared a 10 year roadmap to guide the establishment of a healthcare institution. A Health Care Board Coordinator was appointed in 2022 to oversee and coordinate ongoing efforts. The Board continues to engage with medical experts and consultants to ensure effective planning and implementation.
Although progress has not always followed the initial timeline, significant strides have been made, particularly in telemedicine, disease outbreak response, free medical camps, provision of dialysis medicines and appointment of nursing and technical staff. Toward the end of 2022, construction began at the Lamka Rehabilitation & Research Centre (LRRC) campus for an Outpatient Department (OPD) and minor investigation facilities.
Through its Healthcare Ministry, the Church also plays a pivotal role in providing basic healthcare services in rural and underserved areas, extending Christ’s love and care to those in need. The Evangelical Baptist Convention remains steadfast in its vision, prayerfully working toward the realization of a full-scale hospital that will serve communities with compassion, excellence and faith-based care.
